The Who x Modfather Clothing - Tootal Exclusive Pop Art Symbols - Silk Scarf
An Exclusive Tootal scarf to celebrate The Who's 60th Anniversary.
Tootal was first established in England in 1799 making it one of the oldest British heritage clothing brands around today. Much like The Who, a classic Tootal scarf has been a firm favourite with the Mod scene since the early sixties.
Utilising imagery and symbols from popular culture on their stage wear and everyday clothing such as advertising slogans and comic book graphics. The Who were major proponents of the Pop Art movement.
“We stand for pop-art clothes, pop-art music, and pop-art behavior,” said Pete Townshend (in 1965) of his band, The Who, “We don't change offstage. We live pop-art” (Melody Maker, 1965).
The band also described their single “Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere”, as “the first Pop Art single” and for a short time, the song was the theme tune to the iconic music television programme 'Ready Steady Go'.
